The Hewlett-Packard PSC 500 produces impressive family and school projects with or without your PC. Its primary functions of color printing, scanning, and copying are designed to work together. You get vivid color and photo quality using HP PhotoREt II color-layering technology for lifelike skin tones at 6.5 pages per minute (ppm). Laser-like black text also brings a professional look to resumes, papers, and presentations at 9 ppm.

The PSC 500 supports a variety of media, including index cards, legal- and letter-size paper, envelopes, labels, and transparencies. Plus, your projects can be printed in crisp color on greeting cards, photographs, and T-shirt transfers.

The PSC 500 provides sharp scanning with the press of a button. It makes scanning and editing photos for all kinds of projects easy, even for the novice user. You can also send scanned objects through your e-mail. The flatbed scanner lets you scan books, magazines, and 3-D objects. You'll also appreciate OCR software for scanning text into your favorite word-processing program. This review is from: Hewlett Packard PSC500xi Multifunction Device (Office Product) The printing resolution is excellent. I can hardly tell the difference in quality from the laser printer in both B/W and color. All the functions work just great if you consider the price tag. This is almost identical to its sibling PSC500. Only downside is that if you use MS Publishing 2000, can't use the built-in slot to print out the envelopes because of the limited printing option to choose. It's MS's fault. You can still work around it by importing it to MS Words. For this reason I give 4 stars, but would give 5 stars for the unit itself. And, I wish I can copy something in color to B/W.
